Coat of Arms of Ahorn-Tal, Bavaria

Traced back to the 17th century, the Bauer family has its roots in a small region of Bayern (Bavaria in English) known as Ahorn-Tal.  In English this region is known as Mapple Valley and consists of several small towns, including Reizendorf, Korzendorf, Volsbach, and Hintergereuth.  Proceeding generations of the Bauer family  later emigrated from this region of Bavaria to the United States on January 1, 1839, sailing into the port of Baltimore, Maryland.  From there they settled into Brinktown, Missouri an unincorporated community in Maries County.  Later generations moved into Rich Fountain, part of the Washington Township in Osage County, Missouri.
